Short Avenue Elementary Opposes Charter Co-Location

I oppose the addition of a Charter school on our campus.

The space allocated for te charter is being used to enrich the current students' lives. Please don't remove these wonderful experiences for the kids.

We don't want ICEF in our school

My grand kids go to this school and we oppose the addition of a Charter school on this campus.

Please help our student! Don't take away our classrooms that we use for computers, art class and other positive activities for our students. There will also be too much traffic in our quiet neighborhood with extra cars and busses.

My understanding is that most successful charter schools achieve that success when they make their own way... dragging down another school limits both organizations from bringing out the best in the children they are responsible for.

I believe our kids function and learn best when their school is whole rather than divided and segregated. The families of students who find the Short Avenue Elementary campus desirable are welcomed to enroll at our school.

Please leave our neighborhood school as is! We are local families who believe in sending our children to our local public school. We have spent years building and fighting for our school through scandal, a corrupt principal, and budget cuts and we are not about to hand over our school to a charter! We are a thriving, diverse, community of caring families, administration, and teachers, and we do not need or want another school on campus.

Please don't allow a charter on our campus! This would take away resources away from our children.

The children enjoy the space they have and enjoy the facilities available to them. Please don't take this away from our kids. The school will grow organically. It will create nightmare for all kids - the current and incoming - due to the segregation. There are other more suitable facilities in the area that are being overlooked.

Please don't let our school become a segregated community!

We disregarded Short, our neighborhood school, for the first few years of our child's elementary school career, and regret the fact that we did. Once we actually toured the school, saw the teachers in action and spoke with the administration we knew this was the place we had been looking for! We love our little school and we love the fact that it is filled with children from the neighborhood or nearby communities. I fear that the addition of another school to our small campus will destroy the close knit neighborhood feel we have at the school and limit the spots available for neighborhood children as our surrounding area transitions from older long time residents to younger families. We need to have a school that local families will want to attend because it IS the NEIGHBORHOOD school.

Please don't let ICEF take our Art Room, Science and Latin Labs. They are NOT empty rooms!!!

Co-location will be detrimental to the positive growth for our school and neighborhood environment. Our customized science, art and Latin labs are an integral part of our STEAM focus. Our diversity teachings and inclusion philosophy will be confusing to elementary school children when there are separate children and classes that will not mix and that may use separate entrances. There is NO freedom of choice for the home school, while all the choice seems to be given to the incoming (echoices) charter. There have been no studies and no real consideration as to how a separate incoming school will adversely affect the home school experience and community that we've worked to hard to nurture.
