Five people have no right to make this decision for the entire county. Leave the current names intact!

A change like this should be decided by the voters.... not the school board.

Any intelligent human, black or white, knows that changing the name of a school will never undo the past. The only answer is to keep the names as a reminder so all future generations can really know the results of being racist. Put this in front of the tax payer.

This decision should not be made by 5 people. It should be made by the community that they represent,

The citizens of the county should vote as to any name changes. FOIA should be requested, school board members, other than Mr. Helsley should step down or forced out.

You can not change history. All prior attendees of school loose their history. Stop this nonsence. Who pays for new branding expenses, literature, banners, etc? Wheres the budget?

Stop the virtue signaling. The names shouldn't be erased by a couple cowards. Put it up for a vote to the people to reside how there county and schools are to be run, named etc.

I went to stonewall, my big brother and my parents went there and met there. Don’t change history for generations on to be able to say that they went to Stonewall Jackson like their parents.

I have lived in the valley my whole life and graduated from Strasburg High School. This should be decided by the people who live here, not the Board

For me the name of the school doesn't bother me personally. What does bother me how this affects our community and how the residents of Shenandoah county had ZERO say so in the matter. Also how school board officials chose to take $500k and having disregard for their constituents. Something like this should be left up to a vote and for the residents to decide either way. That 500k they took, could have gone to something more constructive like improving the quality of education for students improving school nutrition, programs of academics that don't get recognition or funding from our tax dollars. Furthermore, because our school board chose to take the 500k they LOST a lot of support from local businesses. I guess dirty money from outside our area means more to our officials than the concerns and wishes from our community. People need to understand that it's not about race, hate or slavery or the civil war. It's about money in politics, power and control. The people who put up large sums of money to pull this crap don't care about how they affect communities, the historical significance and they especially don't care about minorities, they use them for their own personal gains yet don't do anything to actually help them out! What this is truly about ,It's about the community and the alumni of those schools! Generals pride!! It's not that we are against minorities. You can't change people's hearts whom are racists. You can't change history simply because someone finds it offensive. We are not here to glorify anything. We are here to preserve the integrity of the community and who we are.
