We, the recreational crabbers of WA State, respectfully petition the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to add a new Shellfish Record Category to the WA State fishing records.
We specifically request a record for the largest Dungeness crab to be included and welcome all recreational shellfish species to be represented as well.
This
new record category will legitimize the sport of recreational
shellfishing and create a valuable new source of shellfish data for the
WDFW.
Please create an Official Shellfish Record Category for WA State.

The momentum behind this request for a recreational shellfish record is truly significant. This growing interest demonstrates that the sporting community values formal recognition of our efforts.
