Support Colourful Shadowfax in beautiful Heritage Perth, 2017

If it is an "expensive" paint you will be paying for it not to fade so that argument does not hold water. Purple does not go with red brick and lime green is not pleasing to the eye from an architectural point of view. The placing of inappropriate "corporate" colour schemes on mainstreets is the reason heritage guidelines were formulated in the first place otherwise every street across the country would be the same commercial advertising strip. If the shopfront does not comply with heritage bylaws it must be re-done or a precedent will be established and the next eyesore could be a McDonalds or a Walmart, they have the corporate legal expertise to walk all over Perth council to get what they want. Be very careful what you sign for on this petition or a big can of worms could be opened.

As a fellow business owner I know how difficult it is to run a bricks and mortar store when competing with the ever growing online market. Shop owners have to continually come up with innovative ways to attract customers through the front door. I myself would certainly explore this shop. The town council needs to help businesses, not hinder them.

Such nonsense. Shadow fax colours are tasteful! Has anyone looked at the KFC restaurant on HWy 7? It's an eyesore! I know it's not part of the downtown heritage section but it's one of the first buildings you see on your way into Perth.
I think the heritage colour board needs to be updated.

This is an awesome jewel in a sea of drab. I do agree about "heritage", but it doesn't have to look all washed out - one building blending into others. Almost like you've seen one, you've seen them all.....

I grow up in Perth and this store was my favourite store growing up! Leave the store front alone, it is beautiful and it looks more like the original colours!

I grew up in Perth. Shadowfax is an institution. It's messed up that the town is harassing this business like this. There is nothing wrong with a colourful storefront. It does nothing to conflict with the towns heritage theme. Perth's heritage is Scottish, and anyone who's been to Scotland knows that colourfully decorated storefronts and homes is commonplace. It gives a town an inviting and cheerful feeling. I don't know why the town is so concerned with making sure it looks stuffy and beige.
