This fine American soldier was punished for doing the right thing. In no way should this be allowed to continue. Shame on those responsible.

I am a 2x Afghanistan war veteran. This guy should get a Silver Star! I'm glad I'm out of an army willing to do this to a hero.

As Americans, we should be proud of this honorable soldier's actions. The fact that we have to sign a petition like this on his behalf is, frankly, disgusting and outrageous, He deserves an award for standing up for American values.

Let this Hero finish his career. This man does not deserve to be punished any more than he has.

That this could happen to this honorable man is horrifying.

I know following orders is mandatory in the US military but sometimes you must follow your conscience and do the right and moral thing.

SCF Martland was doing his job, and striking a blow for apparent rampant injustice's ! He is the kind of Soldier we need and should idealize, not Riff out. Shame on you Dept. of Army and shame on the Joint Chiefs for taking a backseat to such a disgraceful act by the Afghan Commander/s who perpetuate such acts. I am a former Marine, and I am appalled at such treatment to this fine example of a warrior! I would have taken the same action where I in his shoes!

SFC Martland may have violated the ROE, but followed the law of common decency. It's every soldier's duty to disobey an unlawful order.

We should be awarding him a medal, not kicking him out of the Army

Just because evil people are helping stop other bad people, doesn't mean we should tolerate their evil acts. Thank you for doing what is right rather than what was ordered.
