He is a hero. By forcing our soldiers to do nothing we are supporting child slavery and child abuse, this is not what America stands for. We are losing our own campaign of winning hearts and minds and pushing the people towards the enemy. Don't take out honorable men and women and ask them to do such a dishonorable thing as letting child rapist continue in their acts. The news reports it soldiers who have had to watch/hear young children scream and cry as they are being molested is deplorable and the fact that our military isn't allowed to do anything about it makes what's happening even worse. I am proud of the service my husband and family members have given for our country but I am also glad that they are no longer in because these honorable men could never stand by and let this happen. My son will not enter a military such as this, who attacks it's honorable and supports the deplorable. Shameful.

A real American hero like Mr. Martland should not be subject to this nonsense.

I am the father of a former Army Captain (USMA '04) and Iraq war veteran. My son left the Army because of this kind of cowardly "leadership." It seems the good junior officers leave and the mediocre ones stay in. It is the perfect recipe for the inexplicably immoral policies we are witnessing today. Duty, Honor, Country are meaningless words to these halfwits.

The US Army is embarrassing and I find it hard to support it knowing how this hero was treated. Shame on them.

This man deserves to serve his country, since he did what ANY American would in this situation. Taking his career away because he stood up for a helpless victim is outrageous.

God Bless America, this soldier should be decorated for his actions, not condemned.

How is it possible to shut off the visceral reaction to a child being victimized?

He’s being discharged for pushing a child rapist because pedophilia is part of Afghanistan’s rich culture. Personally, I want to live in a world where it’s okay to confront pedophile’s and stop them from doing what they want to children. This guy showed a great deal of restraint in my opinion. This guy could have easily snapped this dirtbags neck without breaking a sweat and the world would be a better place for it.

U.S. Military should be decorating Martland rather than expelling him. Shame on our gov't. Martland is representative of what America stands for - helping those who cannot help themselves.
