IT IS WRONG TO FORCE A CAREER SOLDIER OUT OF THE MILITARY FOR DOING HIS JOB AND HAVING MORALS........... SHAME ON YOU.

We ask our brave men and women to put their life on the line. But when one soldier acts in the only way that type of person responds to which is brute force, he is punished. I'm sure that young boy and his mother is thanks God for the actions of SFC Charles Martland. We should all be proud of him.

Save our Troops and their integrity and put the blame where it belongs on Washington DC

I applaud him for showing the mother and child that Americans do not condone the raping or molestation of anyone and especially not a child! We may not be able to change the behavior of these twisted men in Afghanistan but perhaps if we help protect the children it will break this horrific behavior for future generations of Afghanistans.

There was a time when the United States stopped oppression. Just think how different the world would be if the soldiers during WWII would have just let things happened because that's their culture. This makes me physically ill.

I don't see how anyone in their right mind could have allowed what SFC Martland was asked to allow.

It is absolutely wrong to discharge SFC Charles Martland. He should be reinstated and commended for his actions and resolve.

I am extremely angry over what happened to SFC Martland and Capt. Quinn. It is a disgrace for the Army and Department of Defense to take such a stand. As a retired LTC USA I have lived in other countries and understand the old saying "When in Rome, etc". But there is a limit and rape of a child is even against Afghan law. I applaud SFC Charles Martland for his actions. He is a true HERO, fighting or his country and fighting for those that can not defend themselves. Keep this Man in Uniform and allow him to continue his career and retire with Honors.

The most important element we as a Nation (the World's only "Superpower") is our people committed to Service and self-sacrifice. Army Special Forces Officers and Soldiers are the essence of these "Sheep Dogs" that reach out to protect the innocent from the ravages of the wolves that target them. Both SFC Martland and his former Team Leader, deserve better than this!

Treatment of our professional NCOs ought to be far better.

SFC Martland, I am a two-time Veteran of the US Army and US Navy. What the Army did to you is reprehensible and despicable. I will continue to pray that the Lord makes right what is clearly a wrong done to you.

As a former & 20 year (1972-93) retired Army Airborne-Ranger, I support this petition in reinstating SFC Charles Martland.

American politicians and military leaders always talk about "leading the way" for the rest of the world to emulate! Well are we to let this example of leadership go to the way of discharging a man who stood by his principles! SFC Martland, my brother did what was supposed to do, stand up to a sick, demented monster!! As a fellow combat veteran, I state this is a crime!! A crime against humanity and SFC Martland is a victim of this crime!! He did what was right he and the captain did what was right!! Let him continue to do what is right!! Undo this wrong!!
