SFC Charles Martland was doing the right and correct response when he defended the child and his mother. I would hope it is the Army's policy to protect the most vulnerable individuals no matter what country. This is wrong to persecute someone for doing something that is morally right. Restore Martland back to his proper rank and give him a medal for choosing what is difficult and right.

No soilder should be punished for saving a child. He is a hero!!! This behavior should not be allowed on military bases and President Obama needs to do more to protect our soldiers.
