Maryland is a brave Soldier and acted appropriately. He should remain in the Army.

BRAVO SFC Martland! It does not matter where in the world you are. Rape is rape is rape. Well done and we know you'd do the same wherever you are. To see the military man stand up for the oppressed be they a tiny boy or now fills us all with pride. Unless you think collateral damage is acceptable and something to ignore like some obvious 1 star generals think. IF there is someone who should be staff reduced it is that individual who would rather have his son raped than make the locals upset...

I fully support Sgt. 1st class Charles Maryland, he deserves a Metal, not thrown out of the Army. We need a full investigation as to what is going on with this situation.

SFC Charles Martland is a hero and should be regarded as such. He represents the best of what this country has to offer, and we all should be grateful that someone with his character and integrity wants to serve our nation.

I would proudly show my name online for support for this cause but I currently moved due to being stalked by former attackers in former state who may still be searching me out by my name. Good luck. You're a great person!

We are outraged that a soldier of this character should be in this position. Please restore his justice and cancel the lawsuit against him.

It's an outrage to see one person of good moral charachter being punished for standing up for what's RIGHT. More people should actually defend those who can't defend themselves, shame on all those involved in this awful decision!

Normally, I'm very proud and appreciative of our military and it's leadership. However, in this case, I'm ashamed of its upper leadership. In Congressman Hunter's 8/26/15 letter to the Sec of Defense, paragraphs 3 and 4 are extremely significant, and demonstrate the poor (even immoral?) judgment of our military leaders in this case. It appears that the military expediency of having support of local Afghan leaders overrides taking action to stop even horrendously evil behavior. Also, from what I can see of Sgt Martland's qualities, discharging him will be a loss to the Army, especially in Special Forces training.
