NO OTHER OPTION... There is no mechanism by which Martland could have disciplined the perpetrator. He was responsible for his training - of course he should have acted. SFC Martland is the epitome of "the best of the best" in our military and our country.

Where is the moral compass? We know abusing children is wrong. Our soldiers should not turn a blind eye to such abuse, particularly on our bases.

My husband came back from Afghanistan with the same stories of child molestation, and rape. He was also told to look the other way!

If it's not our military's position to look the other way then WHY is this man being persecuted for intervening ? Shame on us.

Proud of you Charles Martland!!! You deserve the Medal of Honor. Those who dismissed you deserve jail time for not standing up to the abuse those kids continue to receive on a daily basis.

I always wonder when there is a story like this If the men who decided to remove him from the Green Berets would be as ready to do that if the child was one of theirs?

This is wrong what they have done to this Green Beret SFC Charles Martland. Our men were sent to fight for the freedom of me, women, and children. If their country won't stop the raping of its people then that is part fighting for freedom. The Military was wrong for forcing SFC Martland out. Reinstate him at once...

Our military use to be strong and fearless and now we have to submit to the world. As prior service in the Army, I am disgraced by the direction of the military and our nation.

The whole world should know about this case and the fact that our service men and women are being forced to be complicit in the brutal rape of children. We have a moral obligation to defend and protect those who cannot protect themselves. Any human with a conscience would have done the same thing Charles Martland did. I believe in respecting the traditions of other cultures but tying a small child to a post and raping them for weeks is not a cultural tradition, it is a crime against humanity. If we don't stand up against this kind of sick brutality, then who will? Charles Martland is a hero!
