Give SFC Charles Martland a Metal of Honor for saving this child's life. Civilian, Military and Contractor employees of the Department of Defense have to take training classes every year that relate to these kinds of events and to name a few:
1. Sexual Assault Prevention Response
2. DON EEO/Diversity / Anti-Harassment Training
3. No Fear Act
4. Combating Trafficking in Persons (and those abused for sex)
Then to be told to look the other way when this happens IS UNACCEPTABLE.
I would have done more than shove him, this Afghan commander would be missing some body parts as Lorena Bobbit would have made another appearance. No other child would ever have to worry about being raped by this man ever again!

The people who are discharging this guy are morally bankrupt. The commanders who said 'look the other' way, while a child was raped, should not only be dishonorably discharged from their positions but should serve time in jail. It's not cultural tolerance or religious tolerance to tolerate someone else violating another's human rights. The mother of that child asked for their help, but they were afraid of undermining local government? News flash: if the local government is raping young boys, they should not only be undermined, but completely replaced. And we as Americans should ask ourselves how we allowed people like this get in charge.
