Congressman Hunter, I urge you to continue to press the Pentagon to reconsider the treatment of SFC Martland's being forced out. I do not think any American citizen would find that he acted out of character of the values that the Army claims their soldiers should take upon themselves. He could have simply received a verbal reprimand and then the Afghan Commander could have been removed. It would be better and more cost effective for the Army to remove one of the many Officers who have shown evidence of moral cowardice than to remove SFC Martland.

This must be some kind of sick joke. We are there to protect the Afghani people - I one boy being raped by a disgusting Afghani "man" doesn't count?

I am not sure what is worse. A country telling a soldier to turn his head and ignore a pleading mother or a country that actual commits the crime. There are always exceptions to rules. If this isn't one then I do not know what is.

SFC Martland is a definite asset to the Military. Ranking officer of unit should be evaluated to determine why he was not aware of child abuse.

While American military should respect the customs of their foreign hosts, they should NEVER be asked to stand by while women and children are being beaten and raped. That is not a "custom" it is a crime! We should never be asked to tolerate the most vile of crimes by the people we are training to "protect" the communities they are to serve. The soldier and his commander should be given medals, punishments. One more thing....have we not learned from the past that discharging combat experienced senior enlisted and officers is a monumental mistake?

Discharging this man says that the army is PRO child rape. How is that the message the US wants to send? That makes us look extremely weak & undermines every man out there fighting for what's right.

This Marine represents the truest and finest of the values of the Marines. He should have gotten a humanitarian medal. But with the POS Muslim in the White House, this is what he gets.

I retired from active duty with the US Army in May 1986 (having served from June 1963) at the rank of Sergeant Major. My war was very different from that of SFC Martland and his cohort, but not so different that I can't appreciate the rigors he has endured. The mindset of the Army bureaucracy that would separate him from service is the same as that which tried to cover up the fratricide of CPL Pat Tillman. This is absolutely unconscionable!

Obama should be ashamed!! This is just the icing on the cake of a disgraceful administration. This man should be given a metal instead of being discharged. We are behind you!!
