I am completely disgusted that our military leaders would allow this to happen. SFC Martland acted when it became clear no one else would. He is not just an American Hero, but a hero for all of humanity.

I'm not a violent person but I would have done the same thing he did.

I was raped in the US Army, on post. This man should be retained, and all negative reports removed from his personnel file.

I am a proud veteran of the 82nd Airborne...do not dishonor this honorable man. It will be an injustice to all who serve and have served!

He has already been disciplined. To involuntarily discharge him would do a disservice to a talented, brave soldier and would deny our country his services, just when we need it most. Vets vote AND they remember! This one certainly does.

Too many good men have been discharged recently. Let's not have this guy be one of them.

I'm horrified our military would kick out a Green Beret for protecting those who cannot protect themselves....I thought the military supposed to make a difference.

Outragious!! The military has sold out to the politically correct. I would have knocked the Afghan's teeth out or worse!

How can our military do this to him? Do we no longer know what is right and what is wrong?

American soldiers are called to protect. There is no greater calling than to protect the life of a child. One should not be punished for doing so - he should be celebrated and decorated.

As a victim of child abuse, I commend SFC Charles Martland for having the courage to do something no one ever did for me.....defend the defenseless.
