To punish this man is a crime! To Free the Oppressed. That is the motto of the Green Beret. Any elected or appointed official (military or non-military), who points an accusatory finger at this man, should be immediately removed from their position and publicly shamed! SFC Charles Martland, you are a hero in my book!

Dear Sirs I would like to express my support of this courageous soldier who stood in the gap for justice and honor. Our country needs to represent the values that we hold in esteem, and our military must not back down on these important issues. We can change these politically correct policies to protect the exploited. These policies actually undermine our purpose in helping these countries. Thank you for your consideration

I read the story, and I commend the Sgt. for showing such restraint. I'd have done far worse...

I am retired US Navy. Several years ago I saw an an article about the dancing bashi boys of Afghanistan. It appalled me to see a culture treat young boys in the manner they did. If you as an individual had a child being treated in this manner you would stand still to see this atrocity take place. I am 110% behind the Sargent. He did what his oath as a U S military service member would fearfully have done. My vote is he be allowed to serve his country in the fashion that he has so honorably been taught.

corrected my email address:
Charles Martland should be commended for his actions protecting the young boy from the rapist in Afghanistan. Our soldiers have a right to maintain their basic morals with regard to basic human abuse when deployed, they should not turn a blind eye. The Secretary of Defense should come to Charles’s aid and begin the process to change the army’s policy on this issue.
