He should be allowed to go back to his unit, apologized to and that rapist should have his uniform ripped off his back in public.

How sad we even have to send our proud men in the military to this morally corupt country. What are we saying check your value system at the gate?? How are they supposed to live with themselves once they return home. I feel sergeant Martland did the right thing. How can anybody stand by and hear the cries have a child being raped and a mother pleading for help for her child and do nothing. I remember how ostracized the people of New York were when they allowed a young woman, not so long ago , to be stabbed to death in the street while they pull the curtains and did nothing to help her. Our soldiers are human beings and thank God for them and for their morals. God Bless you and God Bless the USA!!!!

Dear SFC Martland, thank you for your service and leadership. Seriously, your country is indescribably honored to have men like you and Capt. Quinn in the service. Dear Pentagon policy makers, Enabling child rape. Really?? That's a new low. Congratulations on your career legacy.

As a former Marine who served in the Persian Gulf, we were trained to accept the cultural differences. However, this is not cultural, it is MORAL! No human being deserves to be raped or assaulted. The fact the Army is not supporting such upstanding men is thouroughly appalling! Do what is right, not politically correct. On a side note, to the Army general that reprimanded SFC Martland, shame on you sir, grow some balls!

I am a 17 year veteran soldier. Any military official who tolerates a child rapist perpetuates the crime. Child rape is a crime in the United States of America and in all parts of Afghanistan, including American camps and bases. I stand with SFC Chales Martland. Please let the entirety of his honorable service be considered along with special consideration of the autrosities that compelled him to run counter to the expectations of other leaders who were present in the Afghan theater of combat. The Army, the Nation, our Society and the World will benefit from his continued service.

I would like to support Sargeant Martland BUT I am not a U.S. citizen, is there any way we can make this an international petition? Shall we demonstrate in front of the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain? Thanks a lot Sargeant Martland with all our love and support!!!

"---one Nation. under God,---" Shall we also remove "under God" from the pledge? For Christ's sake, give this guy a break. He was only being a God fearing American.

SFC Charles Martland should be commended for his actions not discharged. He's the kind of soldier I'm proud to have representing America overseas, don't punish him for doing the right thing. #hero

Its obsurd to even suggest he was trying to force "American moral values"... This is basic Human values AND he is very courageous to stand up for a helpless child. Prosecutors you should be ashamed!!!

He should be getting an award not a discharge!
