SF, start enforcing the sit-lie law again

It's hard to believe that where I go these days, I see clusters of tents, clothes strew around, and it's beginning to smell bad. I hesitate to have a visitor because of how this city has changed.

need the mayor and police chief to enforce the laws. they were enacted for a reason. do your jobs!

I live in the Castro and don't feel safe walking to 'Safeway' to buy groceries because of the aggressive homeless people that hang out there all day and night. If it was an isolated problem I would go somewhere else, but the city is packed with desperate homeless people.

As a doctor, I am very worried that there will be a serious infectious disease outbreak given the extremely unsanitary conditions near the tent cities. There is urgency - sanitation was developed over history for a reason.

Will the city lower my taxes because of the property being devalued by so many tents encampments in my neighborhood? It gets worse each year and this year seems like it is the worst of all.

Please enforce the law. We must invest in providing mental health services, drug rehabilitation, and shelters to those who need it. In exchange, we should feel confident that enforcing the law and keeping our streets safe and clean is the right thing to do.

I know the City is trying to deal with homelessness, but what is being done is either insufficient or ineffective. Our neighborhood demands change! Basta!

I've lived at 12th & Folsom for 9 years and the homeless encampment situation is by far the worst I've ever seen it. Spoke to a woman today, a business owner who's been in the area for more than 50 years, and she too said she's never seen it this bad. My girlfriend can't even walk our dog at night, it's too dangerous...she was assaulted by a homeless man a few weeks ago and now refuses to walk the dog without me. It's awful having to deal with this nonsense day in and day out. Do something about it!

When my family had to stop going to the Sunday market at Civic Center because, on three consecutive visits we were assaulted by some crazy demanding money for "watching the car", a different guy had his legs under our car preventing us from driving away while he was shooting heroin up, and a crazy woman was defecating near the market, I started considering leaving our home in San Francisco. Enough is enough. Stop corruption, the Coalition on Homelessness who have zero interest in solving the problem, and can Jennifer Friedenbach as soon as possible.

I couldn't agree more, it is high time the city started paying attention to residents.

It's not safe or healthy for residents or the homeless.

This issue is long over due. Please do something about the syringes. They are turning into the snakes of the city. I constantly have to watch and dodge them on city sidewalks.

As a new resident, I am shocked and appalled that so many people are living on the streets in a supposed great American city.

Homelessness is just too easy

I think that we need to address the increasing homeless population in SF. The city is unsanitary and a huge issue for those of us who live there.

Please let's clean up these streets!

Feces on the street and sidewalks, syringes left in playgrounds, and rampant car break-ins in Western SOMA are a direct result of the current "look the other way" policies regarding these encampments. The status quo is intolerable, and City Hall needs to hear that "same old, same old" isn't acceptable any longer. Tax paying citizens no longer feel safe in their own homes or neighborhoods. This mess needs to be fixed.
