I have lived in SF since 1981 and specifically on PH since 1992. I'm not proud to have family and friends visit and see how filthy our once pristine city has become due to our elected officials neglecting their duties.

Thank you for starting the petition. The current policy of SF government to not enforce the law and to tolerate the well-documented behaviors that are described in this petition is a policy that is hazardous to the health of the individuals who are engaged in these behaviors as well as hazardous to the health of the entire SF community, of which they are one part. The policy to not have the police enforce the law and to tolerate these unhealthy and unsafe behaviors lies at the feet of Mayor Ed Lee and the board of supervisors. They must act to change the policy and to end the problem behaviors that we find on SF streets. There is no time left for continued inaction on the part of SF's elected officials.

The tent encampments are not places where true homeless people live - they are makeshift drug dens, houses of prostitution, and a place for thieves to store the goods they steal from cars and residences in the area. They block the sidewalks, making it extremely unsafe for the elderly and the disabled. They create hazardous and unsanitary conditions with used needles, garbage, and human waste. When the streets of SF look worse than those of Calcutta, it is time for action. The police need to enforce the law. I am willing to pay higher taxes to support shelters for people who are truly down on their luck and need our help. I am not willing to sanction criminal behavior in our neighborhoods.

About time! As a taxpaying citizen, I have the right to walk down the sidewalk unmolested, and not have to step over human waste, or a wasted human.

Thank you for speaking up! I have been threatened and harassed by the homeless in front of Mission Dolores on my walk home from MUNI too many times this year.

The area under the 101 freeway has become a campground for meth, crack and alcohol addicts and thieves. Please enforce the existing laws and clean this area up. Are my property taxes not high enough?

I am signing this because I no longer feel safe walking in my neighbourhood (Potrero Hill). Please enforce the laws and help us stop the criminal activity that is getting worse and worse.

I agree wholeheartedly with this petition.
How can we be living in a city where rents are higher than anywhere else in the country, but the residents are surrounded by all of these tent encampments that invite all of this criminal behavior into our neighborhoods?
