One in five women in college are sexually assaulted, yet only a fraction of these crimes are reported, and even fewer result in punishment for the perpetrators (The Hunting Ground). Women are forced to silence themselves and swallow their voices to come forward and speak about the trauma that they have to endure out of fear of being falsely accused of lying. Society looks at rape as always being the 'women's fault' and refuse to look at the other side of the picture. By signing this petition, more awareness can be brought to this ongoing issue and women without voices can be heard.
