I think it’s wrong to allow women to wear earrings but force me to take mine out because of my gender. I think men and women should have the same rules when it comes to any jewelry or piercings, hair, make up (if one chooses) as long as it is appropriate and doesn’t get in the way of working. Come on Publix, we need equal rights!

I started working at publix and I'm not allowed to wear earrings but the women working with me can? That's discrimination. My ratings are less noticeable than the ladies hoops they wear.

It's 2017 Publix. Not 1938.

This is sexist and discrimination. Males would be allowed to wear something women can. Another good point that was point to my attention today was women don't have to tuck in their shirts like men do at work.

This is definitely sexist and it offends me because I can't go to work with me ears pierced but my female coworkers can? Really?

I agree, the women at my publix can have those chokers around there neck and bandanas around their hair to keep it up while men can not have earrings or beards

It's frustrating that I'm required to remove my piercings at work due to my gender while females cover their ears with piercings.

I agree. This is sex discrimination. Out with old policy.

Facial hair and ear piercings that are conservative should be allowed.

They really need to let guys wear the same accessories as females. I feel unequal and like they have more freedom

Since I've started working at publix at age 14, I've questioned why men aren't allowed to wear earrings. I was only told, "it's not conservative" and nothing more. Following this, my days off wearing earrings was greatly reduced to wear 3 or less days out of the week because of work. I'm now 16 years old and I unknowingly worn my earrings to work. Everything was fine until my manager spotted me and asked me to remove them in a kind manner. So I returned the gesture asking in the nicest way possible as to why men aren't allowed to wear earrings at publix. Turns out the answer was the same with the same blunt response. I then asked why is it conservative for men to not wear earrings and I was told it's just not. End of story.

Discrimination needs to be wiped out. Especially in the work place. Definitely not ok.
