As the community of Peacehaven, situated in Gauteng South within the Sedibeng District Municipality, under Emfuleni Local Municipality, we have initiated this petition with the aim of sending it to the Public Protector in the hope of receiving an intervention due to serious lack of services from ELM
Our suburb experiences the following:
1. Inconsistent waste collection (we are on a bi-weekly schedule, but even than our waste does not get picked up as it should and when the truck does come out, some streets are skipped). On the drafting of this petition, it'd week 4 without any waste collection.
2. Frequent water leaks & water outages (there are several water leaks and some have been reported and remain unattended for several years. There are fresh water streams, and some are sewerage). We suspect that the water outages could be a result from the water leaks.
3. Poor road conditions ( almost every street has huge potholes which do not get repaired which cause safety hazards when trying to avoid them).
4. Lack of street lighting (this is a danger as it is unsafe when the streets are dark)
5. Parks and side paths not being consistently cut (the grass is as high as the walks)
6. Incorrect billing system for water and services
7. Little to no response on concerns raised

Poor service delivery, no n collection of refuse bin for over 4 months,Smuts street street lights not working for over 4 years,streets full of potholes
Portholes, sewer around vereeniging is very bad, when is raining is worse because you can't pass, 2 months ago exhaus of my car was broken because of porthole
Service delivery at Peace Haven(ward15) is very poor and we pay for what?we struggling with sewerage &rubbish removal while we are paying.Where our money is going?
Sewer overflowing - health concern Most residents have young children, who are not able to play outside. Sewer, water leaks, long grass , lack of refuse collection - rats. Great voncern
We are basically paying for services that aren't rendered to us.. Our overall health is compromised due to the raw sewage running down our streets..
Street at leuhoof not in good condition this place its dirty no cutting grass sewer

The whole Vereeniging is a big problem. We have struggle with a main sewage line for over 2 years with no help... And we as owners wanted to on our own cost. But Emfuleni didn't allow us to do so. We couldn't use the toilets nor the showers. We lost so many tenants!
