NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION MUST ADDRESS PUBLIC CONCERNS OVER "SERIOUS NEAR MISS" AT SAN ONOFRE

Please move material out of harm's way, to a much saver dumpsite

I believe my family has been seriously impacted by the San Onofre nuclear Power Plant. I lived there on and off from 1977 to 2006. I was living there for a 16 year period (1990 to 2006) and raised our three sons there. One of our sons was a surfer. All 5 of us were tested for Uranium and we were all literally off the charts in Uranium. My son who was the surfer had the highest level. Uranium toxicity can cause all kinds of neurological problems like anxiety and depression along with mental fog, inability to concentrate. My son also had heart palpitations and the we found out that his CRP was 40. It should be < .08. He also lost his sense of smell and his hands and scalp would get so dry they would crack and bleed. I have very good reason to believe this high level of Uranium in our body's were caused my the Nuclear Power Plant. My son has 3 friends that took their lives (depression was the underlying cause) and another friend has early Parkinson's disease. These are young men in their late 20's and early 30's. something has to be done about this. The Edison Company and the State of California, I believe, is hiding this information from the public.

The idea of nuclear energy was literally a disaster waiting to happen. We need to end this as safely as possible.

Need thick walled canisters that can be inspected for cracks and safety measures need to be put in place like independent 24/7 radiation detection and emergency evacuation plans

Save San Diego from a nuclear disaster!

You should have had a solid plan in place since BEFORE construction.

No more nuclear until we have a way to deal with the waste...

This is a critical matter. Please address the concerns of this petition promptly. We live along the southern border of San Clemente, and visit the San Onofre beach often. This is a beautiful and special natural resource that must be protected.

It is an outrage that the utility company is being allowed to put everyone in Southern California in danger of a nuclear holocaust. We must stop them from proceeding on their unsafe procedures.

Humankind should not be experimenting with radiation and should leave the planet in better condition than when inherited and not create Koyaanisqatsi. cmm

This issue has been “seeping” within our ocean community for decades and there are many serious health issues, including high uranium levels in surfers and swimmers here. We must take action NOW!

There is NOT sense in NOT using the SAFEST storage method known. There is NO WAY to "clean up" a nuclear accident

Please articulate your plan for safely dealing with this immediate problem.

Time for America to be RESPONSIBLE about the FUTURE of our country, don't you agree?

SCE it trying as cheaply as possible to contain "spent" highly radioactive fuel in the cheapest containers for temporary storage. We are discussing containing containing fuel that will remain radioactive for thousands of years. Plutonium created during the nuclear fission process of energy production has a half-life of 25,000 year. Nuclear Power opponents have been saying for years that it is unconscionable to produce waste with no way to safely store it. San Onofre is now face to face with this problem and Edison wants to take the cheapest option and already there has been an accident. Public protection, not cost should be the deciding factor.decide
