They should be stop and for any additions, they should get a new architect, this is the ugliest architecture on upper East Side.

Shadow on adjacent buildings is a big quality of life issue. The congestion from the larger Chapin will overload East End Ave which was never meant to have this volume of traffic.

Endless noise and no vehicle p/u drop off until 90 east end garage........Ice and snow will result in many issues ! No to Chapin !

The residents of yorkville have been extremely accommodative to Chapin through years of construction. We ask the BSA and the city to reject any further expansion in our family community. The community does not need an addition to an already massive private school. The neighborhood is over congested with the daily come and go of the students and their transportation needs etc. They have grown beyond a reasonable balance and have asked the community to endure much more than the neighborhood can support. They have also created this situation by electing to increase their enrollment. Please reject these plans.

I am against further construction at Chapin. In 2005 the Chapin School claimed they had a hardship and needed waivers to build to accommodate their 550+ students. The community approved the plan and construction went on until 2010. Instead of serving the interests of the 550+ students the school CHOSE to escalate enrollment now to 750 students and have once again crowded themselves out of the space they were granted and are once again claiming the hardship of not having enough space. Please, the situation is now out of control and the proposed plans are an affront to the dignity of the neighborhood. They have been granted a variance to dig below the school to create more cafeteria space that can double as a gym/gathering space and they should be stopped when this current project finishes. The school has other options such as combining the existing 4 gyms it currently has or finding an off site facility or they can reduce enrollment over time by attrition. Please reject these massive plans that are out of character with our residential neighborhood especially since Chapin has created the situation they are now seeking relief from.

private school is now a giant
monstrosity and the noise never ceases...i overlook Chapin and i cannot sleep with
all the yelling and construction
noise. this must be stopped
somehow as common sense
doesn't seem to prevail. it is
destroying our neighborhood
(and my sleep)

Glass office towers don't belong on East End Ave.construction site is noisy, with truck engines running all day,some backing up with constant beeps.it. Starts @ 7am and never seems to finish

Chapin has already doubled the size of their school with their previous expansion which inconvenioused the neighborhood badly. They have obviously outgrown the building and should seek other locations for their school. This plan will negatively impact the neighborhood. Please deny this application!

At 538 the noise is nonstop from 6:30 AM and often until beyond 10PM. Apart from the noise of construction, the workers scream at the top of their lungs when they are working. Most often they are taking smoking breaks in groups of 10-20. In other words, they are a nuisance not only with their construction but with their behavior. This is unfair to the community and their is neither remorse nor compassion (or a payback to community) for this. It is only of benefit to them and the outrageous tuition they charge.
This should cease immediately. Their is no peace to the community at all.

Chapin is already a terrible, uncaring neighbor. Parents triple park at drop off and pick up, blocking access to local streets and bldgs with impunity. The lights and fire alarms are already out of control. The school cannot handle the existing conditions and the neighborhood is fed up with their selfish disregard for our homes. Please don't allow them to add to the current bldg and disrupt our community even more.

The school cannot handle the traffic already involved with the current school. The fire alarms go off monthly. This is often a poor neighbor. Let them show they can handle their current responsibilities before making it worse.
