I am beyond sick of being woken up every day 7am and having to deal with noise all day until 9-10pm seven days a week. They are completely selfish to have no regard for being in a residential neighborhood. They can find space elsewhere. It will devalue our property, not to mention be an eyesore and disruption for years. So angry.

I am a co-owner of a coop apartment on E84th St. The proposed plans of the school would create a building totally out of character with the quiet, lovely neighborhood in which it sits. It is a mistake by any measure.

As a young homeowner, I am troubled by the construction work and planned expansion of Chapin. It disrupts our daily lives (and the construction is daily--even on nights and weekends) and threatens to affect our property value long-term by altering views and changing the neighborhood feel and dynamics. Why should this institution, with notable alums/a (presumably) sizable endowment/the necessary resources to find alternatives to expansion of its current space, take precedence over the individuals and private citizens who have chosen to make this neighborhood their home?

Chapin can find another facility. This neighborhood has tolerated more than its share of construction & congestion. The quality of life for people living in this residential neighborhood is more important than the needs of a school that has other options.

The neighborhood has already borne more than its share of disruption from Chapin's many construction projects and expansions over the years. CB8 very clearly communicated its objections to Chapin overreaching its boundaries with little regard to its long suffering neighbors.

It is impossible to not be affected by this construction project. It is an eyesore, it is loud, it creates dirt and dust which permeates the air and finds its way into my apartment, it is an almost 24/7 operation. We as neighbors must endure this for another 3 to 4 years because Chapin was unwilling to put a full-size gym on a basement floor? I highly doubt this is to meet programmatic needs. I suspect it is to have a gym with a riverfront view and to create additional space to increase student body size. Please consider neighbors other than the Chapin school in your decision. The sheer arrogance of this project is stunning. Best Regards.
