We seem to have lost the battle over the building which is a great shame. The new building will tower over the park casting its great shadow and forever changing the landscape of what was a quiet residential area.
While the work continues local residents are now subject to what seems to be 24/7 noise. Literally all night and 7 days a week. It has made living in this street intolerable.

words cannot express my disgust at
what Chapin is doing. I've been here
for 60 years (wow!) and can't believe the change (for the worst).
Chapin annexed the convent next
door and it's been downhill ever since.. cannot the city stop them? or
what can WE do!! I face Chapin and the view is disgusting now...

EEA remains one of the last remaining enclave for those buyers and residents seeking a civilized quiet existence. The Chapin plan contributes to the destruction of this community.....again. Surely they can find/ create another campus elsewhere for their current expansion needs--just like Dalton did when they built their gym on E 87th Street.

This expansion will ruin what is a completely residential neighborhood. I don't understand why the have been allowed to ride roughshod over our street like this. They are the worst neighbors and behave like the residents are of no consequence. Please stop them from ruining our home.

Chapin's alleged hardship is self-inflicted. They overexpanded with the arrogant expectation that they could get variances to build. This is not hardship and certainly not grounds to disrupt this neighborhood, with related effects on property values, for the next several years. It is the neighborhood that has been made to suffer the hardship, and for no good reason. I agree with the comment that suggested that Chapin should do what other private schools do: find an auxiliary campus.

Maybe they should spend all the money going to lobbyists to investigate a new site. Chapin has not spent one dollar reaching out to the community.

If the previous addition, a gray structure with a style that it is so out of character with the neighborhood, is an indication, the new addition will create a weird and humongous structure to say the least
