أخطر التحديات البيئية التي تواجه الأردن اليوم هي ندرة المياه.و يعد الاردن من افقر اربع دول مائيا في العالم,بمعدل 175متر مكعب من الماء سنويا. ان الارتفاع المضطرد في عدد السكان وزيادة ضخ المياه من المياه الجوفية بمعدلات تزيد عن التعويض, قد ادت الى زيادة ملوحة المياه الجوفية. هذا وتقوم شركة سما الاردن بعمل بحيرة صناعية تستغل المياه الجوفية في منطقة البحر الميت لغايات ترفيهية من خلال البحيرة الصناعية التي سوف تستنزف اربعون الف متر مكعب من الماء لتعبئتها.في حين ان معاناة الاردنيين مستمرة جراء شح المياه. الرجاء التوقيع على هذه العريضة لوقف هذا المشروع الذي يؤثر سلبا على المخزون المائي الشحيح في الأردن. The gravest environmental challenge that Jordan faces today is the scarcity of water. On a per capita basis, Jordan has one of the lowest levels of water resources in the world, with a per capita share of less than 175 CM for all uses. This placed Jordan at 20% of the water poverty level. With the country’s population expected to continue to rise, and an increase of pumped water from ground water beyond sustainable level, the gap between water supply and demand widens significantly, in addition to increasing salinity of ground water. The Dead Sea lagoon project, carried out by” Sama Jordan” company, will exploit the fresh ground water supply for the recreational purpose of building a 40.000 CM artificial lagoon.
