The school board finally folded and the old commons is officially ours to turn into a senior lounge. After months of them ignoring us they had no choice but to listen. We won this fight and now the real work of setting up our space begins.
We are petitioning for the old commons to be used as a senior lounge rather than an empty space. The lounge if approved could host tables, chairs, possibly a vending machine, a quiet sensory space for students to use for relaxing, and more. However we need to hit our signature quota to get approval. Please sign and tell your friends!
The school board can no longer pretend this space is anything but a wasted opportunity now that so many of us are united behind this demand. Their refusal to listen is pathetic but this wave of pressure is finally forcing them to sweat.

BHS really needs this. having a place to actually sit down and chill would be so much better than sitting on the floor in the hallway.

it sits empty all day so why not just let us use it. makes no sense that we have nowhere to go during free periods.

I was a senior when the commons were taken away. Although the space held little importance to me personally, it upset me immensely when they were putting up the walls during my final week at BHS. To suggest something such as a senior lounge is a great idea and I fully support this petition.

I have such good memories about spending mornings before class in the commons. It’s such a shame they were taken out, other kids should have the opportunity to make good memories like that.

A senior lounge is a great use of the space since its not being used for anything now!

This is a good idea, brings the commons being taken away from us was such a change. Now it’s just a waste of space. Upcoming seniors should have the right to feel the freedom that past seniors have.
