This is unacceptable. This officer's behaviour should not be tolerated.

Unbelievable that this Police Officer is still serving. He should be behind bars and everyone involved in the handling of this matter should be brought to account for their actions.

When will DV be taken seriously?

The police are there to support victims of DV not give out their address to the perpetrator .. we can see why so many women and children are being murdered if this is how the police keep them safe

Police officer breached privacy laws and code of conduct and encouraged violence on a family. All are fireable offences in many government workplaces. He is also terrorising children and families - endangered their lives, which comes under child protection laws.Yet he still working , continuing allowing him to access private information and people, including little children to terrorise. why would anyone trust the police now. seriously screwed up system.

As a doctor who helps DV victims and as a community member I can tell you this is completely unacceptable behaviour by a police officer and I think community opinion is that he is not able to perform his duties to community expectations. This seems gobamackingly obvious to me that he should be sacked.

A gross breach of trust. In a corporate job he’d be out on his ear.

The Australian public expect police officers to follow the law and do the job they are paid to do,
which is protect the public and unhold the law.
This officer broke the law.
He put a mother and her children, who are all victims of domestic violence, in danger and at risk of serious harm because he chose to help their abuser.
This officer should have been sacked immediately.
Criminal charges should have been immediately.
This family should be in police protection and all expenses paid for by the police. (I hope the family sues.)
Any other officer who knew anything about this should be investigated and anyone involved including if trying to cover it up should be sacked and charged too.
Domestic violence is a big problem in Australia. Mothers and children are mainly the victims.
If the victims can not trust the police WHO can they trust to protect them?

These claims apparently have been substantiated. If this woman or her children were injured it would be a tragedy, as it is she has had to uproot her children because a police officer decided to breach her confidentiality.
How does a police officer side with a domestic violence perpetrator? This guy needs to be sacked.

I was deeply shocked and outraged to learn what this police officer had done. He has behaved unlawfully, unethically and unprofessionally.he is a disgrace to the police force. He must resign and he should be prosecuted.

Why does there have to be a petition for this policeman to be fired? It’s good to see that we’re actually taking violence seriously in this country.

Disgusting, and the fact that there needs to be a petition to call for something so blatantly obvious makes me feel ill. Neil Punchard is a foul human being and is not upholding the values of the badge - and neither are his superiors, apparently.

This makes you wonder about how Neil Punchard treats women in his personal life if he goes out of his way to aid and abett a man who wants to murder his ex wife and children. Punchard should be on criminal charges as he has used his position to help a man break an AVO and potentially commit a crime
