Those of us who have lived through DV need to band together to get rid of this man. If the man he gave the info to does indeed cause harm to this woman or children, Punchard should be charged as an accomplice to the crime.

"It is important to understand that the financial implications of a drop in pay point are significant; often greater than a sentence that could be imposed by a court" It is also important to understand that being killed by your former partner is significant; definitely greater than any sentence that could be imposed by a court.

Signed, to discourage collusion between police and perpetrators of family violence as in my personal and professional experience police often automatically side with perpetrators and women are branded as crazy and/or troublemakers.

Police are there to 'serve and protect' this is a gross violation of both halves of that ethos. How can the public be expected to trust and respect the force when it protects officers who cruelly and intentionally endanger our lives and go about it with such glee. He has essentially attempted to procure the murder of this woman and her children.

He should be charged , then dismissed and maybe jailed

Neil Punchard should be sacked, he is clearly unsuitable for public office, particularly as an officer or the law whose job it is to protect vulnerable people rather than treat them with complete disrespect and put them in danger.

Your job is to serve and protect THE VICTIMS - not the violent perpetrator. Idiot.

Senior Constable Neil Punchard's actions should earn him a criminal charge and instant dismissal. His partner should be checked on in case she is also a victim of domestic violence as that could escalate if he loses his job. For defending the disgusting actions of a police officer, the Police Commissioner should be dismissed immediately.

Disgraceful, termination of his employment should be instant, and then charges laid. Can't believe this hasn't occurred. What a mockery of the police force and protection of women and children from scum like this

Surely this is a criminal offence. If not, it should be.

Some Qld police have always been corrupt. The police commissioner should be sacked, along with Snr Const Punchard.

Sacked?? sure that's a good first step. Then he should be prosecuted for his criminal behaviour, Conspiracy to commit murder sounds like a good first charge, but I'm sure there's more... THEN strip him of any/all entitlements from his ex job under proceeds of crime legislation.

This is a diplorable abuse of power. This officer is entrusted with the care of the community and he has put a community member in direct risk of harm. What would it take for this officer to lose his job, the death of the woman? How about we be proactive towards violence against women and not only stop it before it starts but stop people like this actively encouraging it. An absolute disgrace.
