However, our contracted workers are now being pressurised to work harder as the outsourced companies and the University seek to recoup the small additional outlay in wages they are now making.
Furthermore, in terms of sick pay, holidays, pensions, payslip problems, workplace bullying and a host of other issues the outsourced workers are still much worse off than University employees.
There are three areas ('tres cosas') where the disparity between University and contract workers is greatest - SICK PAY, HOLIDAYS and PENSIONS.
The next stage in the campaign is to persuade the University to ensure that all workers have the same rights in these three areas. It is eminently affordable, and it is the only right thing to do.

I have been hearing directly from staff members who are still struggling with these ongoing disparities in sick pay and pensions despite our recent wins. My days are spent meeting with the teams behind these contracts to demand they stop balancing their budgets on the backs of our colleagues. We will keep pushing until the university treats every worker like a person rather than a line item.

Seeing this level of support reminds me that we are not just fighting for paperwork but for the dignity of our colleagues who work alongside us every single day. The momentum behind our demand for equal sick pay and holidays shows that the University can no longer ignore the two-tier system they have created.

long overdue. how are they meant to save for a pension on those terms? disgraceful.
The uni acts like they are so progressive but they treat the people cleaning their offices like garbage. sort it out.
THEY WORK HARD THEY DESERVE THE SAME BENEFITS PERIOD.
Ridiculous how the uni thinks they can treat staff like second class citizens. Fix this asap.
Solidarity with the cleaners and support staff. Pay them fairly for everything not just the hourly rate.
