Every body deserves a second chance especially when they changed for the better . In Angola their are a lot of imates that don't belong there. And ones that changed their lives .

I own a sober living house & have seen the difference even a few years incarcerated can make on individuals whose crimes were commited in the midst of a drug addiction. Many can be contributing members of society & deserve a second chance, rehabilitation is possible & inmates whose daily actions prove they are living a new life should be out paying taxes instead of living off the hard work of others.

Free Justin, he was convicted of a crime he did not commit.

Justin didn't kill anyone so why does he get more time than the ones who did the actual crime? FREE JUSTIN!!!!

If we improve our reintroduction process, then this will be a win for everyone.

This is important, we need to keep hope alive and return citizens that have recognized their wrongdoing and commit to a better life in the community.

Past time for a bill of this nature to be passed

He has done enough.Free my buddy.He has made a huge change in his life.Isn't that what jail is for.to reprogram people to live as a positive person in society.Look at all he has done in his life while in.we need more people like him in society.Let him come home to his family.

People do so many things wrong as a young adult. So many young men & women get put in for a justifiable decision, however, instead of giving "x" years they get life. As a victim of attempted murder case along with other charges my attacker received. My attacker had priors, was on probation at the time of my attack and he only received 60years w/ time served. John Edwards was 19 and decided time and time again that his actions were more important than the law and he didn't care. You have first offenderes that are locked up and key is thrown away for first time dealing with courts/law. I don't condone what was done but a life sentence sometimes isn't the answer in young first offenders. In the case that I'm aware of where a boy was killed, and due to the fact that the corner couldn't say which blow to the head was the cause of death both boys (one who used hands to fight and other who used a concrete pole) was sentenced to life. What if the tables were turned and the boy who died and the one using hands to fight had reverse outcomes, how would those parents, family and friends feel? Just like us I'm sure. I hope that we take a step back and look at all factors. Has the accused done something with their life like bettering for hopes of a future while serving, are they model prisoners or just thugs behind bars, was this the first time they'd ever been involved with the law like this, so many things to look at to make a decision if they are able to have their sentence reduced. Please take the time to look at all factors before denying/passing because one day your loved one could be in the same situation.

Dear senator, Financially this bill makes sense, morally this bill makes sense, it just makes sense. This is a responsible solution for an outdated current way of thinking for changed hearts of inmates, as well as for the relief of absolutely unnecessary financial burden on the state. Please join the majority of the nation's states and pass Bill 424.
