Louisiana used the natural life option at 4 times the national rate. As a result, there are FAR too many men and women in this state doing FAR too much time while we're needing to cut back our budget in every way we can. Letting these prisoners go is the right thing to do - for them, for their families, and for the budget.

I am signing this petition form freedom of inmates who fit this category.. I do believe that it will not only save the sate money, but is a feasible and logical solution to overcrowded prisons by releasing some inmates who may not only be innocent of the crimes against them, but have improved their lives and have even assisted and improved the lives of other inmates by their actions while incarcerated., particularly those who have served 20 years or more and have been positive role models to their counterparts.
