Parole Eligibility for 1st Offenders in Louisiana

I am supporting this bill for my son who is not guilty. (some one else is). He wasn't allowed to be here for his dad's funeral. I need him home!!

This Bill is very important for many good reasons As it should be, If this Bill passes an offender doesn't just walk out the door due to his prison time served.. An offender must still meet other criteria before they are released

I support this bill. Cost $ to public for life in prison is to high. Parole should be considered and in some cases approved.

I Strongly support this bill. Especially for those who have served their time. Those who were falsely accused and my not have the means to get legal counsel and/or dont have the ability to no longer care for themselves like family can.

I DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BILL. Releasing those who CHOSE to commit a crime KNOWING the consequences deserve to serve the time sentenced to. IF they are too expensive to house, then I suggest far less accommodations. Unless you have been a victim of one of these criminals, you can not comprehend what it means for the thought of someone leaving prison and having it happen again. I was given the choice to offer my assailant 40 years or life. I chose LIFE! I will not have it on my conscience to allow that person to hurt another innocent. I have forgiven, but will not forget. Offering someone forgiveness does not mean it will give cause to change their behavior. Furthermore, people see "First time offender" without seeing the prior arrests/charges that may have been dropped in the past. My assailant had 5 prior charges and was an illegal immigrant and was set free each time until he committed AGGRAVATED assault. So I suggest people to pray for these criminals and the justice system. If these people are living a productive life in prison, leave them there to be an example and mentor to those who have the opportunity to be released one day. God Bless, Jennie Waldrop

Please make change to those inmate that have serve more that 15, years of more and that is first time offender.Then also look at the difference and the school, trainning that they have made for them self.

Please consider this bill for approval and acceptance for a 2nd chance for those who have been incarcerated the longest and have lived a productive life of value to others while incarcerated. Please consider this 2nd chance - not because we deserve it, but because of God's great mercy.

If we can't give a second chance to a first offender then who can we give a second chance to give them an opportunity to go before the parole board and show what they've accomplished in 20 years of incarceration this needs to happen for the betterment of Louisiana our great state

I strongly approve and believe that people in prison who are serving life , especially when the crime was committed when they were young (under 21 or so) or if when under the influence.

Life sentences for the young needs to change.
