Too many first or second time offenders are locked up for life without the possibility of parole and I feel that it's an injustice that Louisiana is one of the only States that doesn't have the possibility of parole for lifers. In addition, this takes money from education and many other important expenses that monies should be funneled into.

Whatever happened to people saying that we need to offer rehabilitation to inmates, so that if they are able to get out of prison, they may lead better lives. Citizens complain that they don't want to have their taxes raised so that we can improve the conditions of our prisons, but they don't want someone who is convicted of a felony to ever get out of prison. We as a human race need to make up our minds. You can't have it both ways. Another thing people need to realize is that our judicial system is severely flawed. Start paying attention to what is happening in your town. Sit in a courtroom and be very observant to what is being said, or how it is being said. Prosecutors tell a story, defense tells a story, and whoever has the better story for the judge is the one who wins. It doesn't matter what is correct.
