I agree that we need a much better rail system to serve the north east corridor to bring us into the 21 st century but the FRA Tier 1 Bypass proposal provides very little real gain for extreme financial and environmental cost. Normally the kind of planning idea that gets tossed out at the first meeting.

Please know that I am in favor of the upgrade but NOT the bypass, for ALL the reasons stated above!

Please remove Option 1 from the FRA plan

Please DO NOT change the rail line location.

I have yet to see the problem identified that a new rail system will solve, and to see that problem in context with the cost involved. If a new rail system is a solution then a better approach would be a monorail system installed on the I-95 median strip. This uses land already federally owned, would force repairs of some bridges and highway structures, would be a highly visible alternative to those stuck on I-95 and would catapult mass transit into the 21st century rather than perpetuating a railroad system developed in the mid-19th century.

Say No to Amtrak Old Saybrook/Kenyon bypass

I live in Westerly. RI and vehemently oppose a high-speed rail bypass through SE Connecticut and Rhode Island.

I oppose the proposed FRA tier one Old Saybrook bypass as it will greatly compromise the communities on the existing train line. What is proposed is a huge waste of tax payers money, and economically will furthe compromise many communities that are already struggling along the existing train line. Oberall an ill advised scheme, reeking of political junketing, favoritism and pork, with adverse environmental impacts to boot in addition to economic ones. I agree with the ambition of high speed rail travel in the Northeast Corridor but this current strategy is foolish.

The FRA? This is just insanity. What is really gained? 5 minutes to Boston or someone's company making millions of $$$ and destroying businesses, cutting up farms and historic areas. Something is rotten in this deal.

I am baffled that anyone would seriously think this plan could become reality. Use existing rights of way!!

Mystic is the most lucrative tourist attraction in CT. This proposal would wipe out both the Old Mystic Village and the Aquarium. How can this possibly make sense?

Do not ruin our towns!

This is a waste of money that would not positively affect any of the locals it would harm nor would it have a substantial impact on railroad travelers. The money seems like it could be far better spent on other needed infrastructure projects.
