The state and construction of the road caused us to immediately rule out getting a house/property anywhere along there, and that was 14 years ago-haven’t seen any real improvement since.

It should be sealed

Just seal it.

Clouds of dust, especially when cars regularly spin their wheels, contaminates water going into tanks. Dust can hang in air a long time which means you are breathing it in!

The road is dangerous in the wet and the dry. It's an important piece of emergency and tourism infrastructure. It's been 25 years since the surfacing stopped and the residents deserve better. The residents also pay semi urban rates but recieve no sewerage or water, no bin collection and the road obviously needs work. Difficult to see the value the residents receive from paying urban rates.

This really needs sealing due to the fact that the constant filling of pot holes must be more expensive in the the long run that what it would be to seal the road and it would make it a lot safer, the gravel in places heaps up in summer making the road very dangerous

Its a waste of tax payers money to keep filling pot holes that appear back on the rd within a week after rain it'd be cheaper to seal it than to keep bringing machines in every 6 months

dust, potholes ,accidents, etc and heaps more traffic due to population in the area , just seal it , its a joke the amount of money spent on a dirt road, when it should have been sealed years ago.

I have two friends there and I never gave the dust a thought to lung problems, but have seen the occasional ditched driver!

The dust is excessive and the potholes whilst maintained well are soon back.

We visit friends who live on Abels Bay Road several times a year and understand how difficult they find it with the amount of traffic causing dust, let alone the wear and tear on their own car. Extremely slippery after rain.

My wife and I have lived in Abels Bay for close to thirty years all-up, and we have endured the sub-standard condtion of Abels Bay Road for longer than most. As a regular motorist and bicycle rider I feel that I am well qualified to report on the unpleasant nature of driving and riding on the road. Dust is a constant issue, as are potholes that swiftly return after temporary road maintenance is undertaken. Perhaps the most unpleasant aspect of the road is the rivets that also inevitably return after maintenance. Hooning is a problem that I have first-hand knowledge of, given that I have been virtually run off the road on my bicycle by one of the local idiots who came around a corner sideways quite deliberately, while kicking up the greatest cloud of dust I think I've ever witnessed.

Too much dust and hooning. The residents deserve a fair go

I agree with the residents concerned about the dust and irresponsible drivers and would like to add that wet weather causes hazardous conditions on the dirt road.

Yes, Please seal this road. The dust is horrendous. I feel for the residents with health issues, plus the mess the dust creates. Imagine their washing on their lines. Meeting a hoon on a corner in a bigger cloud of dust is a bit scary to say the least . (Also,I am sick of having to constantly wash my car because I dare to go off sealed roads to visit these beautiful places) Seriously though...... the cost of continually maintaining gravel roads and the cost of health and safety for the residents makes it a no brainer. Seal it asap
