Swimming and paddling in the sea used to be one of my greatest pleasures. But I'm now disabled. When I moved to Seaford a few years ago I thought I would be able to enjoy the beach, but it's impossible for me to access because I use a mobility scooter or walker and shingle is impossible as a surface. Even on crutches I can't do it because the shingle slips underfoot and the shelving on the beach is too steep. And mums with pushchairs or children in wheelchairs need to be able to get down onto the beach safely. Providing ramps or walkways would improve the quality of life immensely not just for residents of the area but also attract more families with members who are disabled to come and visit and by staying for holidays support local businesses. It makes perfect sense and would amply repay the investment needed.

I have spoken to local Counsellorscabout this several times with no response. So pleased to see others feel the same. Also, pushchairs would be much easier to at least get to where you want to sit. I now have a dodgy knee, this would be really helpful for when I swim.....it's a bit of an effort ploughing through the up and down pebbles!

Hard beach to go up and down. Head to Eastbourne normally

Great beach but we struggle with a wheelchair to go onto the beach. We normally head to Eastbourne as they have wheelchair access.

i am not disabled but i am 79 and have a job to get back up with the ramps of shingle i think everyone should have easy access to the sea

I live in Brighton and there are no accessible beaches on this part of the coast. This is a brilliant idea!
