SE Portland Train Horn Quiet Zone

The blasts of train horn wake me up every night.

This rule makes as much sense as if we had cars honk every time they reached an intersection. How many actual accidental (not suicide, not trying to beat the train at crossings but accidents) do we have per year vs. the disruption to every day quality of life for whole towns. The law, across the country should be rescinded.

The train horn is driving me insane.

You can hear the SE trains in the Lloyd, all day and night, nonsensical blowing of horns, Up to to 35 mins straight with a few seconds at most in between....on top of that is the NW rails yards doing the same....2am, 3am,

The horns are so prolonged and nonsensical in their frequency. I wear earplugs to bed and still hear them.

I don't think there is a legal reason to blow a train horn here. However they STILL blow every couple weeks in the middle of the night.

I literally had to replace all the windows in my house just so I wasn't woken up constantly by the trains. I can still hear them. They also significantly negatively effect the tenants my building at 111 SE Madison.

I HATE these trains!

I teach at a dance studio right next to the train tracks. The excessive noise disrupts my ability to communicate effectively with my students. It also causes me anxiety which is not good for me or my students.

I work just east of the train tracks (literally 30 feet from the train). I have to stop what I'm doing every time the train comes by to brace myself for the noise as it is EXTREMELY painful. I have recorded some of these trains to who the excessive blowing. I have a recording of the train horn blowing for over 30 seconds at a time. I also live at 25th and Salmon - 25 blocks from the track and can hear it at night, regardless if my window is open. It's just absolutely absurd that we allow these train operators to wake us up from sleep, permanently damage our hearing and disrupt our business. Please help us stop this!

I attend a dance studio in this area and personally feel the horn sounds are too loud and excessively applied.

I work in a building right next to the train tracks and the incessant horn blowing is damaging my hearing in my right ear. It has also increased my anxiety so much that when I hear the train from my home on SE 30th and Hawthorne, it wakes me up at night.

Those conductors are out for our blood

Train horn started at 2:38am and woke me up. When on for like 10-15 minutes. Died down for one minute and now is blaring again at 3:01am!!!! I live in an apartment in Brooklyn, how do the people owning homes not do anything???
