SE Portland Train Horn Quiet Zone

There is absolutely no reason to blare the horn for 15 minutes every night at 330 am. its obvious a psy op to fuck with peoples sleep.

I recently moved to NW Front Ave, and the trains throughout the night keep my partner and I awake. We use the best ear plugs, but this does not block the multiple, longs horns blasts. This area has grown a lot in the past 10-15 years, more and more residential apartment buildings with thousands of people. We need a solution

The trains are constantly blasting through the night. It's so difficult to sleep

This must be stopped. It is a plague to all of Portland!

We can hear every train horn as if we are right next to it and we live a considerable distance away in the NW alphabet district. A quiet zone permit for the entire stretch of the metro area is necessary, and there are no valid excuses or reasons it can’t be done. These types of permits and zones exist.

I stay ant Blanchet house right and the train hirs disrupt my sleep every day, it’s so bad I now have ptsd from train horns even if hear it on a tv show it’s effecting my mental state for sure.

Train horns have become extremely obnoxious. Some go off between 10pm and 7am non stop for minutes on end. No excuse for so much noise.

Let’s get it done!

Thankfully I no longer live on 12th and Division, but I can still hear the trains without issue at all hours from my new apartment just north of Ladd’s. I can’t stand being this level of annoyed for this much longer. Something needs to change.

Thank you for writing this petition! We are disturbed by the noise of the trains 28 blocks away. It’s unnecessary for the noise to be so loud and travel this far.

Would love to see more activity on this. I'm sick to death of horns blasting during the night. It's totally unnecessary. Barriers, flashing lights, bells going off. As if that's not enough, let's blast the entire neighborhood so that everyone in a 3 mile radius can hear the damn train. I bet not a single one of the horn blasts has prevented an accident. IT NEEDS TO STOP. The companies using these crossings should be made to pay for everything needed to make these crossing safe and QUIET!!

The train right across from the building I live in on 23rd Ave. WUM 6494 SE 23 rd Ave, has had a idling train rumbling very loud since 1:09 AM Sunday morning at 1:00 AM and it is 8:30 PM and it’s still rumbling the loud idle noise every 15 seconds!!! Impossible to sleep, shakes the windows and bed! What the hell is going on? Please make it stop!

If the pearl district can establish a quiet zone, inner SE can too

The train horns are obscene. Something needs to be done.

Up here on the hill, the noise is very loud. Writing this at 1am, with the train horns keeping me awake.
