We, the undersigned parents, students, and community members, strongly urge the San Dieguito Union High School District and the Board of Trustees to support increased flexibility in scheduling to support speech and debate and the arts programs at LCCHS.
The district has determined that students will no longer have the option of taking seven periods on campus - including off-campus independent study PE, marching band, and theater tech. They have also eliminated all semester electives. While we understand the budget constraints that prompted these decisions; the financial savings appear to be minimal, and the cost of lost opportunities in band, theater, debate, ASB are tremendous.
The district claims these changes are for the budget but the cost to our arts and debate programs is too high. Email your representative on the school board today to demand they restore these elective options. We need to keep the pressure on until they reverse this decision.

When was this determined? Why have we not seen this discussed at a school board meeting the past 18 months?

Total disaster for the arts department. You are basically killing the theater program with these scheduling changes.

Who made this call? No one asked for our input on this. We deserve some answers about how these decisions were made behind closed doors.

This is ridiculous. Kids need those extra classes to get into college and follow their interests. Why take away choices?

So basically we are paying for less education now? Unbelievable that you keep cutting the programs that actually prepare kids for the future.
