We, the undersigned players, fans, and community members of Beyond the Wire, respectfully request that Offworld Industries release a Software Development Kit (SDK) for the game.
Beyond the Wire is a unique and ambitious title that brought the grim realities of World War I to life in a way no other game has. Although active development ended on July 6, 2023, the community remains passionate about its potential. Many of us still play, and we believe the game could thrive with the support of modding.
An SDK would allow the community to:
- Create new maps, factions, and gamemodes to expand the life of the game.
- Preserve Beyond the Wire as a living project, much like Squad and Squad 44, which both have SDK support.
- Attract new players by offering fresh content and community-driven updates.
- Fix any current bugs and mistakes on maps etc.
We understand that development resources are limited, but releasing an SDK would be a cost-effective way to ensure the continued legacy of Beyond the Wire. With the tools in the hands of dedicated modders, the game could live on and reach its full potential.
We ask Offworld Industries to give the community the same opportunity that Squad and Squad 44 enjoy: the chance to support and grow the game we love through modding.

this game has such great potential to be one of the best games ever made about the Great War, it just needs the attention it deserves from the devs.

This is my favorite video game, and it may become significantly more popular with a few small improvements. This is the most realistic World War 1 video game, and it is so unfortunate that it has not received much development.
