The cost of living in Southern California has been too high for many many years! It's about time somebody did something about it! 12years in the Navy, 9 of those on Coronado.

San Diego has such limited housing options, which creates an extremely long waiting period to get in. Because of this, it causes people to rent until they can get into housing, or buy. Either way, it is very expensive and usually not close to being covered when you figure in utilities.

Have our leaders looked at the cost of daycare and preschool in San Diego? As a military spouse, it has been next to impossible to find employment. And when I do, the jobs that do call pay between $12-15 an hour, and are rarely full time. These high turnover jobs that will hire people who move often won't even cover daycare, not even close. I would pay to work in San Diego. In addition, we pay a substantial amount for groceries, gas, and utilities-- yet the pay is the same as if we were living in a LCOL area such as Millington.

Our family lives 2 hours away from North Island where husband is stationed just because we can't afford to live in San Diego. My husband sometimes is stuck in traffic for 4 hours coming back home!

This would make the hardships on all of our families much easier. Even being a two income family we have our struggles.

Trying to find affordable housing and still provide our family of four with everything we need is way too difficult. We are always living paycheck to paycheck it's getting ridiculous.

We are moving to San Diego in a month and to find a safe neighborhood with bedrooms just to fit children and us, seems next to impossible with our monthly BAH. Factoring in expensive California utilities, we will easily go over. When you are leaving jobs to move across the country, and are worried about child care and just living- it's terrifying

It was difficult to find a home to buy and we will still be coming out of pocket for the mortgage and utilities.

By far the most expensive place we've had to live. Rent, food, gas, electricity. It's all so expensive!

I was active duty and my husband still is, we are being forced to buy a home in an aweful state, pur money into it to fix it up, and sell when we transfer to SD because we can not afford what we need via renting or buying a turn-key home. We have 5 pets and a new baby, no one in SD will rent to someone with those needs and we will not get rid of family members, which our animals most certainly are.

We just Pcsed from Japan to San Diego a second time...this time we've added a 5th family member and were barely getting by including WIC. Living overseas was way cheaper than it is here

We just moved to San Diego, I haven't found a job yet because I work in the education field. Living in housing is great but we still suffer without my extra income we've always had. Everything is expensive in San Diego.
