My husband barely makes enough for us to get by. We had to adopt our baby out to my best friend because we couldn't afford the housing and her expensive care since she was a premie and allergic to my milk. We live in the most dangerous housing for the cheapest. We're paying 1300 for a 500sqft place and people have broken in to our apartment and our car multiple times. No place for a child! I miss being a mom and Its put so much stress on my marriage because of money being so tight. The rent for military families should be lowered not raised!

As a military spouse currently stationed at Miramar with my family, I completely agree with this petition!

I agree 100%! The cost of living is so expensive. My son is four and we can't even afford to put him into preschool. Living paycheck to paycheck is rough and not what we expected at all. We were able to live comfortably at our last duty station and here money is extremely tight. Even if Cola was a couple of hundred extra , anything would help.

The housing in San Diego is subpar compared to the pricing. For what we are paying we should be living in the Hamptons but we are not.

Recent study showed that a family of 4 needed an avg income of 95k just to make bare minimum for bills in San Diego. Without COLA, most military families do not clear that especially with most families only having one income.

I have lived in guam and it is quite a bit more expensive out here than in Guam.

I went from being stationed in Yokosuka, Japan to being stationed in San Diego and the cost of living is comparable to living in Japan, but we don't get COLA. We've needed it for the past 10 years and it continues to get worse. What's even more awful is that they have been trying to LOWER the mount of BAH San Diego based military members receive.

The shortage of available base housing is atrocious. It leaves military families assigned to SD with little option but to rent. Housing costs and cost of living expenses are higher here than anywhere else we have lived, including Hawaii.

It's infuriating to know we're busting butt every month to watch is barely make it to the next paycheck. Even the most conservative budgets don't allow for saving or creating a better fiancial family outcome.

We haven't even moved to CA yet and we're already dreading it. Just finding a house at or under our BAH pay has been impossible, and we're merely looking for a 2 bedroom.

Please consider COLA for San Diego. Sadly, BAH doesn't come close to the rental costs.
