How San Diego hasn’t received COLA yet is preposterous. It is one of the most expensive cities in the country. This needs to change immediately and $60 a month ain’t gonna cut it.

As a Navy family living in SD, we're feeling the financial strain. We've had to resort to extreme measures like showering at the gym to save on utilities. Even with two incomes, we're struggling to make ends meet. It's hard to imagine how families with children can survive here. The compensation for the sacrifices our service members make seems insufficient and could discourage people from staying in the military.

San Diego is too expensive to live in. Senior military leadership do not understand because they don't have to deal with it. They are too out of touch with the basic standard of living in San Diego even though there is all the data out there proving this is a need and not a want. I can't believe I have to join this petition in a hope to send the message across. COLA is a necessity and we need this change. Families are struggling.

I have a family and already lose BAS because I am on a ship. I should not be have to struggle financially to support my family because of where I have been told to be stationed in the most expensive place in America. We NEED cola. The base pay is the same whether you are in San Diego or Kings Bay GA where in the latter your dollar goes about 3 times further.

I have 5 kids and live in San Diego I am an E5 with the Navy. My wife has always been a stay at home Mom with my children and now she works 40 hours a week and hardly is ever available for my children and we are still living paycheck to paycheck. Food is outrageous and the California says I make too much money for food stamps. They need to implement COLA in southern CA.

The cost of groceries and the cost of gas is one of the highest in the country. I'm an E9 and I can feel the high expenses in Southern California. I don't know how married junior sailors sustain their lifestyle in this AOR. Japan had a COLA when I was stationed their from 2012 - 2015 and it wasn't as expensive as it is here in California. The military service members definitely need extra pay to offset the cost of living in San Diego.

Gas alone costs me about $500-600 per month in san diego. Rental prices are astronomical, a tiny shack or 1 bedroom apartment is renting for almost $3000 a month. Groceries and gas prices are much more expensive than even Europe and I got COLA in europe.
