Eastlink has always been a pathetic excuse for a communications company. Do everything as cheap as possible while charging as much as possible and then make claims of how much they do for the communities they serve. People are not as stupid as those that operate this company would like to believe they are. If this company were doing their honest best, there would be no need for petitions such as this. It's clear to see that Eastlink saw the government handouts in 2007 as a nice little bonus to boost their infrastructure and increase profitability. It's been working up to now. Greed pushes the envelope and, if left unchecked, will certainly lead to failure.

Unfortunately Eastlink is without competition in some rural areas. They abuse that power to take the people hostage for maximizing their profits rather than upgrades. We already have one of the highest rates (I have my comparison in Europe).

High Speed Internet should be accessible by all, and at the same price for all in NS. As a rural property owner, it was quite disappointing when I discovered how unreliable High Spreed Broadband really was, and now to find out that I would be paying more for this service if I use more than 15GB is even more disappointing!

We'll be moving to an area just outside of a busy town. We were shocked to hear we'd have to have basic, slow internet...in 2015! ...seems a bit ridiculous considering the need/demand for proper Internet

This is crazy. We aren't getting what we pay for now and they want to cap it. I think the government had better step up and stop this. I thought we lived in a free country. Why because we are rural do we get punished. That is discrimination and if this goes though i think we should all get together and put a class action against them

Eastlink is trash. Had them and dropped them for Bell Aliant. The only way things will change is if either everyone drops the service and demands change, or Bell becomes an rural competitor.

Eastlink. Your pathetic excuse that you are providing a service based on 2007 requirements is analogous to building a power grid and refusing to upgrade it to allow for more than two light bulbs per residence; and telling customers that they cannot expect to use refrigeration or electric stoves because of the way you built the grid. You were paid to install this. I am disgusted by your actions.

By telling your rural users to change the way they use the Internet, you are attempting to place the blame for your poor service on the consumer. Right this wrong before you distance yourself further from Nova Scotians. Take the blame yourself, uncap the Internet and reinvest in your infrastructure. And do that without our tax dollars, you're getting more from us for this low tier Internet than you deserve as is.

If service is offered to the public, it should be the same for everyone no matter the location. It comes down to a matter of discrimination and is unacceptable if allowed to happen anywhere.

People who live in rural areas have a great potential to build online businesses. 1.5 M is NOT broadband anymore. Caps are price gouging for antiquated "service". Build out your services to meet the demand! People will support it.

This is appalling! There is no need to cap the amount of video stream, etc., just because we live in a rural area!

Rural N.S. is a complete mess. We want to move from the city to our property in the country, but because of the poor service we get from our internet provider, and after buying antennas, boosters special cables etc. for cell phone reception , we were left with no choice but to stay in the city. And you wonder WHY rural communities are dying!!

Internet is absolutely crucial for me as a university student for the completion of assignments and viewings of presentations; basically, during my time home none of these things will be able to happen. Not to mention the amount of business Netflix and other providers are going to lose considering we won't have enough internet to watch them. Stephen McNeil was right in his opinion, this is honestly ridiculous.
