We gave scooters going the wrong way in alleys (one way street) at 15 mph. Todd Gloria, Chris Ward and the mayor all say, there is only so much the City can do and then it is up to personal responsibility. Yes, except if I hit a scooter rider, no fault of my own, I still have to live with that. The state of CA, CALTRANS goes to great lengths to keep cars going in the opposite direction separated. I don’t think scooter riders are rolling that same philisophy.

A good friend of mine was very seriously injured on an e-scooter a few weeks ago. He was hit by a car while riding it. He was lucky, others have died. Less important, but super frustrating, is the fact that these scooters are constantly left strewn like trash in front of my condo and blocking my neighborhood sidewalks.

How is it possible that these private companies are allowed to operate businesses — the by-product of which is massive public clutter? Who gets to do that? How are these scooter rental companies exempt from having to warehouse their own equipment? It’s totally outrageous! Is this legal?

I think they should be banned - they are dangerous to the people riding them and walking and driving of others

These things need to go and additionally govern their top speed to 8 mph. I didn't see any in Encinitas the other day.

I have 40 scooters/bikes currently parked on my corner of Law and Bayard; that's ridiculous. Piles of machinery just laying in the street.

If the appropriate oversight cannot be given (and it is NOT!), these must be banned! They are dangerous, the operators are a danger to themselves and others, they do not provide any remedy to climate change, and they are a visual blight and impediment to all.
