I've lost faith in the city to lead us on this issue, it is circumventing CA motor vehicle laws, and permitting a blight to occur in our community, while pandering to the scooter companies. Our elected leaders and their staff, promise regulations will help but then they tell us they don't have a way to enforce everything. They've had over a year to do something right and though we report infractions on Get it Done the same problems repeat the next day with the city leaders failing to safeguard their citizens. The upcoming hearings are taking way too long to pull a permit from these companies, and the number of accidents continue to increase with seemingly more tragic results. If you haven't already, take a look at these FB groups, Safe Walkways, Pedestrians vs Scooters, or the International Anti-Scooter League and you will see the number of people fighting against these unscrupulous business operators and the city that permits them. The pictures, videos and personal accounts are filled with mental angst over these entertainment vehicles. I sure hope these signatures help you convince the other city leaders to ban them.

I'm a Physician that specializes in rehabilitating injuries. These scooters are unsafe for the rider as well as those in their path. It's unfair for all,especially the elderly, children and animals, to be subjected to this selfish,uneccessary risk when walking in the on the boardwalk, sidewalk or anywhere else in the community.

Police aren’t enforcing the City Council regs that went into effect on July 1st. That’s disappointing, but not surprising. Scooter uses either don’t know about the regs or don’t care. Since police won’t cite scooter riders for riding on boardwalks and sidewalks, then banning scooters is the next option.

The City should be required to provide PROOF that these devices help the environment rather than HURT the environment prior to allowing scooters on the road. If they are allowed to continue some logical rules should apply: 1. Require that ALL scooters be picked up by Midnight each day like Chicago, 2. REQUIRE a helmet PERIOD, 3. enforce the one person rule, 4. enforce geofencing, 5. apply huge fines to the companies.

I live a few blocks from the beach and this is getting absurd. At first I was fine with the scooters thinking it would be a fun way to get around using less energy. But not only have people been using them unnecessarily they’ve also been using them incredibly unsafely - to themselves in those around them. I have tripped over scooters, have had them block my back door, and they’ve generally made PB a much less safe place. As the company does not seem to be acting accountable, then I think a ban is the right thing to do for the safety of both residents and tourists.
