People are dying unnecessarily due to these scooters, they are very dangerous and should be banned to help save lives.

A rider on a scooter crashed into my friends van last night at the cross section off ramp for 2nd Street downtown. The rider claimed his brakes went out, got up and left the scene. He was going top speed. My friend didn’t even see him coming. These scooters are a menace and need to be banned!!

Someone threw a scooter off the sidewalk onto my property and knocked down a newly planted tree. A private company (Bird Scooters) is making a profit by illegally using both private and public property for storage of their vehicles. People in wheelchairs or with walkers, or parents with baby strollers, are impeded in their use of the public right-of-way. The use of these scooters is creating a serious hazard.

I now walk in the sand because I don't want to be hit by a scooter on the boardwalk.

Until the scooter companies can keep children from driving, eliminate sidewalk driving, eliminate dual riders, eliminate driving on streets faster than 25 mph, their product can reliably stand up, they improve safety so they aren’t “Suicide Rides”, and they have a business model possible of being profitable, then they are not advanced enough to exist as companies. Let them try again when their company grows up into a real business.

The new e-scooter laws mean nothing when they are not enforced!
