School Uniform Reconsideration

I think having a smart uniform is great for the children and the school. However as others have expressed it does need to be affordable for everyone, and keeping it as plain as possible will make it more accessible for everyone. Really disappointed white shirts are still there, totally impractical as are the ties.

I only have 1 child remaining with 1 school year left. I will not be replacing everything for 3 terms of school! I think it should be filtered through.

There was no option on the original form with an option to put a trim on the sweatshirt. What happens when other children keep drawing pen all over my sons jumper like they normally do - who’s paying for replacements? Just a standard jumper please

There was NOTHING on the parent questionnaire about jumpers/cardigans with a trim!! They gave us 5 different SOLID colours to choose from!! I certainly will NOT be purchasing these. Navy, yes, because I cannot afford to kit out 4 children in these expensive ones - they will have 1 each, but the rest will be from the supermarket... my kids repeatedly come home with tears and rips in their jumpers and cardigans, so I have to buy cheaper ones to replace them from the supermarkets. I'm angry with the school because they did NOT give us this option... They have completely change what they proposed to us parents, and I find this unacceptable, and a little disrespectful. They asked for our opinions, but didn't listen to us at all, and chose themselves. What was the point in asking us at all?!

A single coloured jumper, of a sensible colour that doesn’t display the muck kids pick up within seconds of stepping out the door, would be much more practical and easily obtainable for everyone. As for the tie, mine will lose theirs within seconds and I simply won’t replace them.

This is disgusting to make parents have to pay more for the correct uniform.. one question - does the uniform help them learn?........ I thought not

A bit of common sense is needed here,

Uniform should stay as is where u can buy at supermarkets at affordable price and too young for tie even if clip on.

They need to change there mind

Maybe this needs a rethink.

Boys of this age do not need to wear a tie and will definitely struggle to actually tie one, after PE will be stressful for the teachers! And the jumper thing is silly, what’s wrong with navy jumpers from Sainsbury’s or Asda?

I like the plain navy and being able to get uniform from the local supermarket if needed. I think they are too young for ties and it will end up having lots of tie incidents. I also feel grey trousers is very dated for the older children in my opinion. I’m also happy with polo tops instead of a shirt at this age.

3 children all at that school next year now way am I spending £600 plus on uniform and my eldest will only be there a year

The jumpers should be able to be purchased from a super market, my son always looses his jumpers and has 10 so far during year 1. It will not be cost effective for low budget families to pay higher prices for these, it’s need to be affordable and accessible quickly .

I don't think ties are suitable for young children, they are a choken hazard.

School uniform should be available to buy at any main stream store ,ie single colour garments ,For children of a primary school age to wear a tie is a very serious health and safety issue ,has a risk assessment been completed on this ?

I do not think ties are a good idea at such a young age and one colour jumpers better so parents have a choice of suppliers. If two colour blue is desirable why not consider pale blue polo shirt and dark blue jumper?

I don’t understand why the younger children need to wear a tie. A little restrictive and impractical in my opinion.
