School should start at a later time
Teens should be getting 8-10 hours of sleep each night. With homework and our electronics (phones), we are not able to do that. Now most adults say “Do your homework when you get home from school so you can get sleep!” How are kids with after school activities supposed to do that? Some practices don't get out until 7. If a student gets out of practice at 7 and have a half hour drive home they get home at 7:30 - 8. They have to eat dinner and shower with homework on top of it. By the time they eat dinner and howler its already 9-9:30. Then they have homework. They might have an essay due and math homework due the next day. So they are stressing and staying up until 2 am getting their work done. They are going to sleep at 2 and getting up at 5:30 for school the next day. If teens are over tired it can result in Fatigue, Car accidents, difficulties to learning, concentration, and staying awake in class. It can also lead to mood swings and behavioral problems.
