Yes, I believe this needs to happen. Two months is not long enough for summer breaks when you have 2 parents working, younger siblings and trying to get time scheduled off together to take vacations and even to buy school clothes and supplies.

Give our babies a full summer like we had as children. Let them start later in the year like we did growing up!! We survived and we are smart, give our babies that chance too!

I think that the school year should be shortened to 160 days because my son has asthma and he is on the bus during the hottest month of the year with no air conditioning. The Kids lose most of their summer vacation.

These children should not be going back to school until after Labor Day. The weekly breaks during the school year wouldn't be necessary if they would have the entire summer off.

It's too hot in August to be going back to school. Especially for the kids that have to ride the bus.

Cut out some of the unnecessary breaks during the year and let them have a long summer. For parents that have to childcare all these small breaks are a pain during the school year.

My son is new to this, but if bus temperatures get as high as people are saying than it makes no sense to send kids to start in august!

They need to wait until September so it can cool off some and not have heat strokes for the kids and bus drivers cause the driver spends most of the day on the bus.

Years ago it was September and I think it should go back to that. It's too hot in August which would save taxpayers on high power bills from trying cool down these classrooms.

My ex-wife and I share 50/50 because that's the way it should be. I feel like I've hardly seen my kid this summer and now it's back to school. I would rather give up a winter break, or a teachers work day to spend more time in the summer with my kid. There is no reason that my child should be in school on the second day of August. This is the most asinine plan I have ever seen. I understand the state mandates a certain amount of days as well as the federal guidelines, but we need to look at alternative like Haralson County and let these kids be kids for longer that 2 months. The schools are not teaching our kids how to function as adults, and lying to them about history all to make the school look good on test. Enough is enough. My child belongs to her mother and me. I demand more time with her. Sadly in Carroll county private schools are limited to just one.

The days go by so fast now and before we know it these kids summer is over. No need at all to bring these kids back before the end of Aug.none at all. Please consider the time, activities, family time, etc that your ribbing from the kids by starting back so early. I agree with others...
Start a 4 day school week and extend the school year to add up between 160 and 180 days. Come on,it would be in the best interest of the kids.
